===================================================================== WOTT TRIPWIRE v1.0.0 — Drag-and-Drop Price Alerts for NinjaTrader 8 by Way of the Trader | wayofthetrader.com ===================================================================== Indicator that puts a price alert on the chart with one drag: pull the bell out of the corner, drop it on a price, and the "WotT Ping" sounds when a trade touches or crosses that level. Move, remove and re-arm alerts right on the chart. One set of alerts per contract, shared by all its charts and saved between sessions. A line and a sound only: it never places, moves or cancels an order. --------------------------------------------------------------------- REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------------------------- - NinjaTrader 8 (8.1 or newer) on Windows - A chart with a live data connection: alerts are checked on incoming trades, so nothing fires while NinjaTrader is closed or disconnected - Nothing else: no internet connection of its own, no accounts, no other add-ons --------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Download WotTTripwire_v1.0.0.zip (do NOT unzip it). 2. In NinjaTrader: Control Center -> Tools -> Import -> NinjaScript Add-On... 3. Select the downloaded zip file and confirm. 4. Open a chart -> right-click -> Indicators... -> add "WotT Tripwire" -> OK. A small bell button appears in the top-right corner of the price panel. Any instrument, any bar type: the indicator reads the tick size from the instrument. --------------------------------------------------------------------- QUICK START --------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing has to be configured. The defaults are the ones the tool was built and traded with. 1. Press the bell and drag it onto the chart. A dashed ghost line follows the cursor, snapping to whole ticks, with a label such as "29807.75 +7t": the price, and the distance from the last trade in ticks. 2. Drop it. The alert is set: a dashed line across the chart with a label at the left edge. Amber = above the current price, blue = below. 3. When a trade touches or crosses the line, the "WotT Ping" sounds, the line turns solid magenta and the label shows "HIT" with the time. The fired line disappears after 30 seconds. 4. Set one alert a few ticks away and let it fire once, so you know the sound and its volume before you rely on it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- USING IT --------------------------------------------------------------------- Set an alert Drag the bell from the corner and drop it on a price. Release over the bell or outside the price panel, or press Esc, and nothing happens. The chart does not scroll while you drag. Alt+click Hold Alt and left-click on the price panel: the alert goes exactly under the cursor, no drag needed. Both Alt keys work, AltGr too. Move Drag the LABEL to a new price. While you drag, the alert is drawn as a ghost; drop it and it is armed on the new price, with the direction worked out again. Esc cancels. Remove Click the × at the right end of the label. No confirmation. Re-arm Click the label of a fired (HIT) alert: it is armed again on the same price. Off-screen A level outside the visible price range keeps its label, pinned to the top or bottom edge of the panel with ▲ or ▼. It still fires, still has ×, and can be dragged back into view. The line itself Never reacts to the mouse. Only the label does, so drawings and orders sitting at the same price stay clickable. --------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT YOU SEE --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dark square with a bell The bell button. Press and drag it The bell turns amber You are dragging; a dashed ghost line shows where the alert will go Dashed amber line, +Nt Armed alert above the current price; fires on the first trade at or above the level Dashed blue line, -Nt Armed alert below the current price; fires on the first trade at or below the level Solid magenta line, HIT The alert fired at that time. Click the label to arm it again, × to remove it, or wait for it to go ▲ / ▼ label at the edge Armed alert outside the visible price range. Drag it back into view On a light chart background the default amber and blue are replaced by darker shades automatically. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SETTINGS --------------------------------------------------------------------- Alert Alert sound WotT Ping The built-in double ping, written once to Documents\NinjaTrader 8\sounds\WotTTripwire-Ping.wav. Or the name of any WAV file in NinjaTrader's sounds folder, or a full path. If the file is missing, NinjaTrader's Connected.wav plays instead. Remove fired line after (sec) 30 How long a fired line stays on the chart. 0 = it stays until you click it (re-arm) or remove it. Range 0-3600. Alt+Click quick alert on Alt + left-click on the price panel sets an alert under the cursor. Also log to Alerts Log off Adds every hit to NinjaTrader's Alerts Log window, e.g. "MNQ DEC26: Tripwire 29800.50 hit (down), last 29800.50". Appearance Bell corner TopRight TopRight, TopLeft, BottomRight or BottomLeft. Top-right moves aside for NinjaTrader's "scroll to latest bar" button; bottom-left stays above the copyright line. Label side Left Left keeps the labels clear of the latest candles and of Chart Trader's order markers. Right puts them next to the price axis. Color: level above price amber #F0B860 Color: level below price blue #5FB3F0 Color: fired magenta #FF00FF Line and label of an alert waiting for a rise, waiting for a fall, and after it has fired. Line width 1 Width of the alert lines in pixels, 1-5. A fired line is drawn one pixel thicker. About Version, Website read-only Settings are saved with the chart, the workspace and chart templates, like those of any other indicator. The alerts themselves are not: they are kept per contract (see NOTES). --------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES --------------------------------------------------------------------- - Alerts live on this PC. NinjaTrader has to be open and connected to data for them to fire: this is not a server-side alert, and nothing fires while the platform is closed. The chart may be in a background tab or minimized. - One set of alerts per contract. Every chart of "MNQ DEC26" shows the same lines, a change on one appears on the others at once, and a hit sounds once, however many charts are open. After the contract rolls, the new contract starts empty; the old contract's file stays on disk. - Alerts are saved to Documents\NinjaTrader 8\WotT\Tripwire\.txt one line per alert, rewritten after every change and removed when the last alert goes. They survive F5, closing the chart and restarting NinjaTrader. Deleting the file while NinjaTrader is closed removes that contract's alerts. - "Remove fired line after" is a setting of each chart, while the fired line is shared: whichever chart's time runs out first removes it for all of them. Give your charts the same value if that matters to you. - Market Replay keeps its own list: under a Playback connection the alerts and their file get a "_playback" suffix, so a test never leaves a stray alert on the live chart. - The "WotT Ping" sound is generated by the indicator into Documents\NinjaTrader 8\sounds\WotTTripwire-Ping.wav the first time an alert is set, and never overwritten. - The line never catches mouse clicks; only the label does. Drawings and orders at the same price work as before. - An alert placed on the price that is trading right now waits until price moves away by at least a tick, and fires when it comes back. - A gap through the level counts: an alert above price fires on the first trade at or above it, an alert below price on the first trade at or below it. - The indicator does not change the price scale of the chart. --------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATING / UNINSTALLING --------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: Tools -> Remove NinjaScript Assembly (remove the old WotT Tripwire), restart NinjaTrader, then import the new version zip. Your saved alerts are not touched: they live in the text files above, not in the assembly. Uninstall: Remove the indicator from your charts, then Tools -> Remove NinjaScript Assembly. To clean up completely, delete Documents\NinjaTrader 8\WotT\ Tripwire\ and sounds\WotTTripwire-Ping.wav. --------------------------------------------------------------------- REPORTING A PROBLEM --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use the "Report a bug" form on the product page. It helps a lot if you include: - a screenshot of the chart - instrument and bar type of the chart - your data provider and NinjaTrader version - the lines starting with [WotT-TW] from the NinjaScript Output window (Control Center -> New -> NinjaScript Output) - today's log file from Documents\NinjaTrader 8\log\ --------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT — RISK DISCLOSURE --------------------------------------------------------------------- WotT Tripwire is a convenience tool. An alert fires on the trades your platform receives, only while NinjaTrader is running and connected, and a missed or late alert is possible. It does not make trading decisions and does not guarantee results. Futures trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. You remain fully responsible for your trades. --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORT & CHANGELOG --------------------------------------------------------------------- wayofthetrader.com — product page, changelog and contact. v1.0.0 — October 2026 - Initial public release - Drag-and-drop price alerts: drag the bell from the corner of the chart onto a price, or Alt+click; label with the price, the live distance in ticks and a × button - Move by dragging the label, remove with ×, re-arm a fired alert with one click; the line itself never catches the mouse - Fires on a touch or a gap through the level, checked on every trade; one sound per hit - "WotT Ping" sound generated by the indicator, any WAV file as an alternative, optional entry in NinjaTrader's Alerts Log - Levels outside the visible range as ▲ / ▼ labels at the edge - One set of alerts per contract, shared live by all its charts and saved to a text file; Market Replay kept separate - Four bell corners, label side, colours and line width as settings =====================================================================
